Game Rules | 2048 Math Puzzle

2048 is a strategic puzzle game that challenges your logic and planning. While the classic version uses a 4x4 grid, our version lets you customize your experience with grid sizes ranging from 3x3 to 7x7. The goal is simple: slide numbered tiles to combine them and reach the ultimate 2048 tile—or go even higher!

How to Play

  • Move: Use your arrow keys (or swipe on mobile) to shift all tiles in one direction.
  • Merge: When two tiles with the same number touch, they merge into one! For example, two "2" tiles become a "4", and two "1024" tiles become the legendary "2048".
  • Spawn: Every time you move, a new tile (2 or 4) appears in an empty spot.
  • Win: Create the 2048 tile to win the game. You can keep playing after to reach even higher scores!
  • Game Over: The game ends when the board is full and no more merges can be made.

Compete on the Leaderboards

Think you’re the best? Every move counts! Our game features Global Leaderboards for every grid size. Whether you master the cramped 3x3 board or the massive 7x7 arena, you can track your high scores and see how you rank against players worldwide. Aim for the top spot and show off your puzzle-solving efficiency.

Choose Your Grid Size

One size doesn't fit all. We offer a variety of challenges to suit your mood:

  • 3x3: Extreme difficulty. Very little room for error!
  • 4x4: The classic 2048 experience.
  • 5x5 & 6x6: More room for big combinations and massive scores.
  • 7x7: The ultimate sandbox for players who want to build the largest tiles possible.

Strategy & Tips

To master 2048 Math Puzzle, you need more than just luck. A popular strategy is to keep your highest-value tile in one of the corners and never move it. This allows you to build a "snake" of tiles that merge into each other easily. On larger grids like 7x7, you have more breathing room, but the game requires much more patience and long-term planning to keep the board organized.

The History of 2048

Originally created by Gabriele Cirulli in 2014, 2048 was inspired by games like 1024 and Threes. It became a viral sensation due to its simple mechanics and "just one more try" gameplay. Our version evolves this concept by adding competitive rankings and flexible grid sizes, making it the most complete HTML5 2048 experience available today.
